Two of my SATA ports died!

After spending the entire day wondering why my PC wouldn't recognize my DvD-Drive, I finally discovered two of the four SATA ports on my Motherboard do not work! With anything!

Not sure if this would've caused the problem... but a couple weeks ago I did update my motherboard Bios because I was having audio problems. Was told to update the Bios, which I did through a USB drive, and it didn't actually fix the audio problems, they went away several days after.

Anyways, I really have no idea what could've caused it, and I have no idea how to fix it!

Here are my specs! (:

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z77M-D3H, Chipset: Intel
CPU: Intel Core i5 3570k @ 3.40 GHz - 4 Cores
Memory: DDR3 8GB (Two 4GB sticks)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560

Look in your bios to see if there is an option to actually disable some of your sata ports. If not, then they just most likely died.

In my BIOS there is the option to disable them, but they are all enabled. Is this something I have to worry about, are the other ports now more likely to die?

Since I only actually use 2 of them anyways, is it fine for me to just use this motherboard and just use the two working ports? Or should I invest in a new motherboard asap?

You can always get an addon sata controller card if you need to. If you still have a receipt, that motherboard has a 3 year warranty on it and might be able to get a replacement.

If you're just using two I wouldn't worry too much about it. Probably not worth the hassle.
