Two questions

1. Core 2 duo 1.86 kills the P4 HT 3GHz

Erm, no, wrong. Absolutely not. You cannot guage the power of a Dual Core CPU by adding the clock frequency of its cores together. A dual core X6800 CPU does not mean it works at 5.86Ghz.
 
A Core 2 Duo, running at 1.86GHz, is just two processors running side by side at 1.86GHz. So, you could encode 2 movies at the same time (one per processor).

Yeah yeah I know. I'm just saying, that both cores are 1.84GHz. You cant measure power by speed anymore.
