I am interested in muying a pair of raptors (not sure what size yet), and to get a second Barracuda 250Gb, and was wondering if I can have the two raptors on RAID0, and the two barracudas on a serperate RAID0? my southbridge is ULi M1575. thx.

I think you should be able to. But honestly, I can't confirm that. I can select which hard drives I want to be RAIDed which way, so I have many possiblities. I currently have two good hard drives set on raid 0 which are my main boot ones, but i have a standalone removable four gig with another os on it that i can boot from too.

yes you can but for that you will need a seperate raid controller than the one on board your mobo (unlisted)

how much do those go for? all i would need is a cheap one tha can hold 2 HDDs on RAID0. Also, do I have to format my drive to put it on raid0?

I once got one on ebay for ten bucks plus ten bucks shipping. Search for "silicon image controller card" and the seller was "monoprice.com" or something like that. You can get the same one on newegg, but I guess its better you get it on newegg since its the same price and a more respectable company.

I used it in my uncles computer, but i only had optical drives connected to it, so i never messed with any raid functions.

Creating a RAID array will destroy all data on the hard drive, I assume that's what you mean.
