Type Of Ram

HEY!

ok.... i am just going to come out and say...i know very little about computers...well at least to the public at this website. I know how to work a computer...however I, being very materialistic always strive to have the best. My question is will this memory stick work with my system? I bet it will, however i want to make sure before hand... for obvious reasons.

My system specs: Pentium 4, 2.26Ghz 2.27 Ghz, and currently 512MB of ram with a spare 256MB. My ram currently has only one slot as opposed to the two on the memory stick itself. I dont know if i am being completely clear. If you have any questions, just ask. Thanks!
 
um... where do you normally look for that information? My other memory sticks are PC 2100U-25330 DDR, and i am not sure about my other as i am currently using it while on the comp now

Well im no computer expert, thats what im in this forum for, to learn probly the same as you, but what i would do first is go here, http://www.crucial.com/uk/search/ , if you dont have a custem built computer witch im asuming you dont else youd know what ram you would need, find your computer useing the Crucial Memory Advisor™ Tool and then compare the ram it brings up with the one u want to buy, like the pins and ddr or ddr2 ect...

As i sead im no computer expert, but this is what id do, i dont know wether its right though :)

Can you check what Motherboard you have, then I could tell you for sure. But since you already have DDR Memory installed, that memory you intend to buy should be fine. However it's not recommended to mix different Memory Brands, either the're not compatible or they will run slow.

Also have a look at the Corsair Memory, the Corsair is better quality. I would recommend the Value Select Corsair Memory since it's cheaper than for exemple Corsair XMS (you don't need that;) ). If you don't play much games on your computer you don't need more than 512 mb of Ram. (even if you do play games 512 mb is fine, but more Ram will make them run smoother)

Can you check what Motherboard you have? And what Brand your current Memory you have?

If you have a speaker system, then you don't need a monitor with intergrades speakers. All thoes three monitor are quite similar, so go for the cheapest one. And as for that RAM, if you have a DDR motherboard (most modern ones) it should be compatible. But you still didn't say what motherboard you have, so I can't confirm anything.

I myself have really cheap CRT monitors, I don't consider monitors to be a cursial part, so if I was you i'd get the cheapest one (within acceptable parameters)
