Okay, so firstly, since I installed Ubuntu on my lappy it's been as good as a desktop. Backlight brightness doesn't work - no power saving options other than those available for desktops are available (apart from lid close/open actions). Is there any tweaks that would allow me to adjust the backlight, CPU frequency and whatever other power saving options...?
Secondly, I already have Ubuntu installed on muh desktop, and I'd like to try something else... since I like KDE desktop and love the ease of Ubuntu, I assume Kubuntu would be my number-one option here... Kubuntu still tries to do the same as Ubuntu, make Linux as easy as possible, right? Is there anything I should probably know before going for Kubuntu? Any reasons NOT to go for it? Worse support or anything like that? Is it significantly more resource-intensive?
And thirdly, I have a problem with my wireless, but I'm posting that in a separate thread later as I'm a little busy right now...
Oh and the laptop is Compaq Presario C700 (C731TU?)
