i recently built my computer and it was working awesome and everything worked. i first hooked it up to the modem(ethernet) and that worked. then i went and bought a linskys router and a USB wireless adapter. that worked for about a month until it suddenly stopped working. i called linskys tech support and they told me i have a defective device... so i replaced it, but still i cant connect. even when i tryed to connect with an ethernet cable. it always says, "limited or no connectivity..." ?????? so i tryed to manually configure the i.p. adress, but that didnt work. under device manager there are no question marks either. so i guess its the mobo?networking controller? can i buy a new networking controller?

thanks for the help guys. and girls

Is the adapter a linksys also. A friend of mine bought a linksys router and the dlink adapter card in his daughter's computer would see it but, would not connect. So, I told him to get a linksys card and everything worked fine afterwards.

Limited or no connectivity? I'm thinking IP conflict, or you're connecting to the wrong router (by accident)

I have the exact same problem, except my internet works..
Maybe not as fast as it should but it works ok.

What do you mean by IP conflict?
Do you think you could help me too?
Since it is the same problem.

I'm using a modem.
But i to have the same problem... :(

Hi There,

I think what might be happening is you are trying to use your wired NIC (network card) while your wireless card is still plugged in and enabled. Windows doesn't like having two network connections enable at once without further configuration....so its best to disable your wifi adapter until you have figured out what's causing the problem

So...

1. Say you want to forget wifi for now, and use the wired connection

Go to your control panel ---> Network and internet connections ----> right click on your wireless adapter and "disable" it. This will cause a small system delay.

Now go into the properties of your wired network card and change your configuration back to "automatically detect my ip address" and let DHCP detect.

Hope it helps
