so, i got everything together, wires are all twist tied down, and no response on the first power button click. i checked everything i possibly could have, the power supply doesnt have a european voltage changer, the power button is all plugged in, there are no motherboard power connectors to plug in...

one thing i notice though, is when i plug the power supply in, it sort of makes something click lightly inside the case. the kind of clicking that a case fan would drown out, im lucky i heard it... and when i unplug the psu the clicking slows and then stops... what in the world?

i could start testing and stuff, but everything is tied in there with twist ties, unless you guys know what this clicking is, thats what im gonna have to do... :(

im thinking its either the power supply or the motherboard though, since there just isn't a signal at all, no fans turn on, nothing.

Sounds like the PSU to me, what psu is it and do you have another to test with?

short the green and black wires with it off the board and out the case to try and get it working....if the psu fan dont spin Im afraid its a b0rked PSU.

yea, ive got an extra 450watt to test with. its a rosewill, but the last rosewill i had was great. thats probably it, since the motherboard is a gigabyte, one of the more reliable brands for the core 2 duo. then again, can't eliminate anything until ive tested it...

btw, the signal goes from the case switch through the motherboard to the psu. this is why i narrowed it down to these three things.. a problem with the motherboard could keep the psu fans from running at all, also.

try connecting the two pins that the power button plugs into with a screw driver. power buttons have a higher failure rate then you would think :)
