Hi guys.

Tried to search the forum for this but couldnt find it. So now I'm asking, which are the most ultimate computers you've seen og know of. And when i say this I dont mean all those NASA comps and stuff like that but desktop. :)

well im not genius but it would include intel quad core, a few graphics cards, a ton of ram probably a 1TB hard drive, that setup would give you a solid computer definately now but in the future as well. The future of computer holds a lot such as a 2TB hard drive i was reading about, as well as USB 3.0 among many other things on motherboards later in '08

Ultimate computer, parts could be ordered today.

QX9650
EVGA 780i
8 gigs DDR2 1200 ram
triple SLI 8800 Ultras
Dual 24'' Wide screen LCD monitors
4 to 5 TBs of HDD space.
1200w antec PSU
2 DVD burner drives
Nasty case with water cooling
nice led's

My one life ambition is to be able to say at least once, that I have the best processor and graphics card on the market. Maybe when I win the jackpot, wait, what jackpot. Ah, I'll probably never be able to say that.

Haha. I know the feeling. I've been saving a lot lately and I've got loads of money to make a computer. So i created this thread to see what I've got to beat :D

mmmmmmmmmm 5TB of hard drive space

Yeah man. Some cases have like 5 or 6 hdd bays and you can have one tb single drives. For those people that have tons of movies or large drafting files and never want to delete anything, they may want to consider several tb's but it is still massive overkill i know.

I wouldn't buy hd's, at least not in that quantity. Get 2 500gb hds until you feel you need more. Put the money you would of spent on wasted space into something like processor.

If you honestly want the best wait until later this year, so much is coming out in terms of advancements, USB 3.0, 2TB internal drives, many many motherboard advancements including new PCI

Yeah, but do you know how hard it is to wait when everything you've got is a lousy laptop ? :P

New PCI, you mean EFI technology? The new nVidia 9000 series is coming out soon as is the newer 45nm quad core cpu's. I advise waiting as well.

The 4/5 TB hdd idea was for an "Ultimate Computer", like the title of this thread states.

A lot more that I'll probably need :P

$5000

5000 is a large budget. If you are really shooting for an Ultimate System, then this can definitely be utilized. Like said above, many wait a little.

I was just saying that later this year a lot of cool stuff is coming out. As for the USB 3.0 you can always get a PCI card for that, but the otehr stuff like mobo stuff will only be with new mobos.
