It's World of Warcraft, no doubt. However I think Warhammer, when released (if it hasn't been) will be the WoW killer. The original game has a HUGE following, and those people just might pick up the MMO, since it is afterall based off the tabletop version. WoW will soon fall, it is a good game, i played it since closed beta, but mark my words..it will fall
THe only reason Warhammer wil cursh WoW is because its virtually the same gameplay but completely different events/weapons/characters/story line and scenery, we WoWers crave new things to do
If you are looking for new things, then Guild Wars might be for you. People have been trying to compare Guild Wars and WoW. They are two different things. Though both are MMORPG, but thats where the similarity ends... I guess...
Yeah, definitely try out Guild Wars if you are bored with WoW. It won't cost you much. Just the one time payment when you buy the CD and after that you are good to go. No subscription is one of the strong point for Guild Wars because some people can't afford the month charge but still want to play MMORPG...
Fan boy speaking here... so pardon the biasness...
I second that, in the new expansion pack the makers of Guild Wars has actually admitted to copying WoW's experience features, i don't think id ever go to guild wars, WoW just owns it
Actually I don't care about the rpg stuff. I love the PvP aspect in Guild Wars. Although the guild battles are the only good one's left and tombs crapped out when I was playing. I haven't played since I started college, so at least I didn't loose money. ^_^
Didnt the company developing Warhammer split off from Blizzard when they were working on a game together? I read somewhere that Blizzard dropped out and took what they had made already with them, which was WoW, then the Warhammer crew started over and worked on what is going to be Warhammer, i could be wrong, but it sounds cool that us old-WoW fans will be able to play around with a completely new game, with a somewhat identical base structure.
i used to be a complete WoW addict, until about a month ago (the hardest part was leaving my mates on there), i played for 1 1/2 years almost non-stop, when the expansion came out i played 1 char to 70 and decided it was complete bol****s, i much prefured the old WoW.
World of Warcraft community is GREAT. I have met at least 5 people from guilds and such that live around me and we hang out on a regular basis now. It's a pitty I quit the game..seems like I'm too busy to pal around with them now though.
Anyway, in my personal opinion, when people compare WoW to GW, there is a reason why GW has released several different expansions, and that is to keep up with World of Warcraft . Simply put, yes GW is free to play, and WOW costs 15 bucks a month, but you truely get what you pay for in my eyes.
Just from your knowledge, like Reviews, screen shots, What you know about Warhammer itself, you might just also like it coz you like the models and will think the game will be awesome
See for yourself, pick up this months copy of PC Gamer Magazine from your local book seller or news stand and there is a one page article on the game. Seems to be very very nice. It's not the total Warhammer 40,000 that I love but it has orcs, chaos, and the Empire which is all good. Also the producer seems to draw from its past successes (Dark Age of Camelot) and the best parts of WoW (solo-able quests, RvR PvP, etc etc). It is slated to come out winter of 07, we will see.
Actually, there were quite a few developers from Blizzard that worked on Diablo and Starcraft that worked on developing Guild Wars. The article is on www.ign.com, specifically pertaining to the development of Guild Wars 2.
For me, none Well if I HAD to choose, it would be WoW. I prefer the mmorpgs that im sure most of you have not even heard of! Like Pristontale and Laxelore etc.
