I'm not sure where to post this as it will concern most aspects of this site but mainly networking What would be the best way to implement devices in a home for computing, networking and entertainment? I trying to keep this setup general so it could be adapted to any given house.

I posted something similar on macrumors and I found it interesting to see how users take advantage of Apple products to build a nice complete setup. Can something similar be done in a Widows or linux environment?
 
you can use the airport with windows PC, and add an apple tv, furthermore even share printers. Its going to take some experimenting to come up with your ideal set up
