Ultrabook - Which should I buy?

Ultrabook or laptop - Which should I buy?

My dilemma is that my parents have promised me to buy just about any computer I want as long as it does not exceed 15000 Norwegian Kroners, NOK (I'm living in Norway and am a 16-year old boy, by the way) I believe that'd be up to 1500-2000 USD. As my parents also are against purchase from other countries, because of warranty etc. For one in my position where I can buy any computer I want: What should I buy? On one hand those new ultrabooks are awfully sleek and beautiful, but I am worried about bad components. On the other hand, normal laptops have good components, but are mostly ugly and weigh a few kilos. Which ones are the latest and which is the best buy, in you belief?

The candidates for ultrabooks are Acer Aspire S3-series, Toshiba Satellite Z830-11H, Asus Zenbook UX31E and Dell XPS 13. What are the pros and cons? Price doesn't matter much, as long as the ultrabook is the best one. One of the components that really decide price is storage. How important is the difference between SSD and HDD? Worth paying more for SSD?

Any opinion/ help is appreciated! :D

You absolutely want an SSD. Your computer will boot much, much faster with an SSD versus an HDD.
Out of those options, I would go for the Dell XPS 13. It's a very sturdy ultrabook, and if that's the category you're interested in, the XPS 13 has pretty decent specs.

I'd get the ASUS. ASUS makes exceptional laptops. The XPS would be my second choice.

From what you listed, I'd go with the Asus. They tend to have the most solid history in terms of reliability and such. Second would probably be Acer... I'm not very familar with that model, but they have some very solid machines (TimelineX series...) Samsung is another brand worth considering.

As for SSDs... It really depends on your usage and such. I'm running an SSD now in my primary PC and...well honestly I don't see much benefit to it. However, on a lower-end system, it could help substantially. I am debating upgrading my next laptop to an SSD...just waiting to see how it works with the traditional HD.

Get the XPS then. I saw a video review of the Acer ultrabook and the reviewer said it looked and felt cheap.
