Um my new graphics card doesn't fit?

Hi

The graphics card I already had wasn't up to the job - Matrox 7003-0301

So I bought a new one Nvidia HP FX380 DUAL DVI GRAPHICS CARD.

I excitedly opened it this morning only to find it doesn't fit the slot in my pc, can I get an adaptor or something, or have I simply bought completely the wrong thing?

Please help, if it is wrong what do I need?

Your old card uses AGP design which is older tech. Your motherboard must be very old and doesn't support the newer PCIe design cards.

You need to upgrade your PC basically. Can you give the motherboard and CPU models?
 
Yeah my bad just at quick glance I saw the 2 slits and thought AGP as usually PCI only has 1 slit like PCIe.


OP- If you don't know the model of your motherboard if you could just snap a pic of inside your case it would be helpful.
 
Ok so its in and fits. On to another issue, what a surprise.

I can only set the res. to 1280 x 1084 which frankly looks rubbish, I tried 1600 x1200 but it thinks about it for a bit then says 'Analog Put of Range 74.5kHz ?

This is just one screen as the moment I need to buy a DVi adaptor for the other, but the screen quality doesn't seem very good.

You should be able to run 2 x 30inch screens and at the moment I have only connected 1 24inch.

Not overly impressed, some help please arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggh
 
I am using a VGA cable with an dvi adaptor going into the new card and normal the other end going into a VGA port on the monitor.

Your monitor probably has a refresh rate of 60Hz. Make sure that when you set the resolution that the refresh rate is not set over what the monitor can handle.
