Unable to connect laptop

Hi, i bought a new router recently (Netgear Wndr3300), and it has worked fine for my home laptop and desktop computer.. But i am unable to connect to the internet with my work laptop. The 2 home pcs run windows 7, while the work runs XP. I've set up some network security- Wpa2-PSK and am provided the key. I've gone to the network connection properties on my work laptop and noticed that it asks for some information of the security such as security type- WPA, WEP, but not however WPA2-PSK(what i use).

I'll try to connect but will get an error message or limited/no connectivity issue. The error: "Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you to the network" I have done some googling and unchecked a 802.11EE box in the connection properties which hasn't worked. I have called my internet provider and they directed me to some other places. Ultimately i was directed to Netgear which was unable to help me since my router is refurbished.

So, im clueless as to what is wrong. Are there settings hidden away in the XP laptop to connect to a WPA2-PSK network?
Thanks

Wireless on XP can really be a pain at times... what wireless adapter do you have? Updating the drivers and the wireless software might do the trick.

I have had this issue before, and i found it was because the XP was had an old service pack, does the work laptop have the latest service pack?? which is Service pack 3.

Otherwise, just change the security type, it won't make any difference, and your other computers will still be able to connect as long as you update the settings.

Unfortunately, i cant install the newest service pack on the laptop, or change too many settings since its not my laptop, but a company's. Now, i get an excellent signal and it even says its connected, but still no internet. Im really at a loss as for what is wrong.

it saying limited or no connectvity due to the fact the encryption password is not present or incorrect
you need xp service pack 2 at least to be able to use wpa 2 psk what service pack are you on?

check by right clicking my computer and selecting properties

check here for instructions on how to install sp2 and get the wpa working

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/security/expert/bowman_wirelesssecurity.mspx

make sure after this that key is input correctly and it should work
as a last resort you can change the netgear to a different encryption method say wpa but you would need full access to the router and need to change all the other connected computers settings
(it will also be less secure)
