Unannounced Core i3 Chip Shows Up at Retail

Intel doesn't sell their defective chips. :D

Oh believe me. I bet those stacks of defective quads are starting to get close to the roof. Intel is money hungry, there is no way they are going in the trash can.

All companies do it from CPUs/Cache/Chipsets/Harddrives. After Intel went with a monolith quad like AMD they are in the same boat.

Wonder how many of these X2 i3 will be from defective quads:eek:

i3 5xx dual core with HT, w/o turbo mode
i5 6xx same as above but with turbo mode
i5 7xx Quad core w/o HT
i7 8xx Quad core with HT
i7 9xx same as above but for LGA socket 1366

Also, only the dual cores have integrated GPU

If you look at model number it would be much simpler than looking at i3, i5 and i7

Oh come on, that made it look more like a bigger mess. Give it a break.

I got a AM2+ board that will run every AM2/AM2+ and AM3 processor ever made, make it simplier then that!

Good point. We'll see I guess.

All those chips fit in a single socket except the 9XX. What's messy about that?

Will your AM2+ board run DDR3? How about Hyperthread? :P

Hard to tell, Intel wont advertise it like AMD did. Probably will lazer cut them instead of using the bios to disable them. A review or somone will have to remove the shields on a bunch of the X2 to find out.

No, but my processor will fit a AM3 DDR3 board.

Will your processor run DDR2 and DDR3 and fit in three different sockets and run on multiple chipsets?

It would be a very bad business move for Intel to throw out thousands of processors that have only one or two defective cores on a quad-core chip. That would be like throwing thousands of 100 dollar bills in the furnace.

None of the i3 will be from a defective quad because these dual cores are based on 32nm Westmere (like the upcoming i9)

The current quads are 45nm Nehalem. Also, the current quads don't even have integrated GPU like the upcoming i3 and i5 6xx
