Check this out. This thread sold me into buying a conroe.

still it's possible. think of how it performs. even at, say, 4ghx it smokes ANYHING!!!fade2green514 said:yea did you notice that its at 4.99ghz?
it'd be damned hard to get those types of clocks, even with a conroe.
in fact, i'd call it close to impossible. you'd need liquid nitrogen and even then it might not be stable.
besides thats superPi... we all know there are other better benchmarks out there![]()
Very. Edit: 1.33.1 version of CPU-Z doesn't have Core 2 Duo logos but the name should still be read rightLooks fake ...
thats fine, just stop rubbishing everyone elses version of spped, some people here like to overclock, and have a need to overclokc, saying it is pointless and useless, could rub people up the wrong way *nudge* *nudge*i'd rather put 4x 74gb raptors in raid 0. thats my kind of speed.
This is true but a P4 is NetBurst, Core is a P6 derivitive. Try clocking a Pentium 3 at 2GHzwell you never know they overclocked a p4 to 5.46ghz before
record is 7.6ghz by duck in japan.fade2green514 said:well you never know they overclocked a p4 to 5.46ghz before...

pentium 3 = 180nm. HUH no wonder its hard to hit 2ghz with it. durrCromewell said:This is true but a P4 is NetBurst, Core is a P6 derivitive. Try clocking a Pentium 3 at 2GHz
Core is an improvement on every aspect of P6 (as 3GHz can be achieved easily the pipeline is clearly much better..or at least fatter) but I still have trouble believing 5GHz
actually a P4 at 5ghz would probably lose in multithreaded apps quite easily. probably most single threaded as well.i.Angel said:Just because the name is the x2 5000+ does not mean it is equal to an intel P4 5Ghz! I can tell by your name that you just might be an AMD fan boy. I've been looking at both AMD and Intel's plans for their next gen CPU's and I do have to say that I am very suprised on intel's aggressiveness to take back the ground that AMD has taken from them.
Cheers to Intel I say. I'm tired of going to LAN parties and having a bunch of gay @$$ AMD fan boys talking crap because I'm running a P4. Both companies are good, it's just whoever gives u more bang for your buck.
(which has been AMD lately)
What other kind of processor could reach 7.6GHz...fade2green514 said:was that a P4? i know the record was higher than that, but i didnt know if it was a P4 or not.

Tell that to the reputable overclockers at XtremeSystems. They would love to debate you on your claims that it is fake.Cromewell said:Very. Edit: 1.33.1 version of CPU-Z doesn't have Core 2 Duo logos but the name should still be read right
P4's past 7GHz have been around for quite a few months now.fade2green514 said:well you never know they overclocked a p4 to 5.46ghz before... at least thats the highest i heard of for a P4
Where are you getting your information from, McDonalds?AMD gs player said:have u not seen the 5000+x2 its a crazy prossesor its better than the fx 64 from what ive read so far and the way amd classes there cpu's is based on intel systems because they usually have lower gihz so a 5000+ would equal a 5 gig intel
The process technology has more impact on power consumption/heat generation. Yes, that means you can clock it higher easier but a P3 wasn't exactly a hot box (29.5W on the 1.26GHz model vs 51.6W on a 1.3GHz P4)pentium 3 = 180nm. HUH no wonder its hard to hit 2ghz with it. durr
