Undeliverable emails to unknown addresses

I am having some unusual occurrences on my computer.

1. Today I have received two email messages stating that I have sent an email that was undeliverable.

This is the first message:

This Message was undeliverable due to the following reason:

Each of the following recipients was rejected by a remote mail server.
The reasons given by the server are included to help you determine why
each recipient was rejected.

*** Recipient: <[email protected]>
*** Reason:*** 5.1.1 <[email protected]>... User unknown

Please reply to <[email protected]>
if you feel this message to be in error.

This is the second message:

This Message was undeliverable due to the following reason:

Your message was not delivered because the destination computer refused
to accept it (the error message is reproduced below).* This type of error
is usually due to a mis-configured account or mail delivery system on the
destination computer; however, it could be caused by your message since
some mail systems refuse messages with invalid header information, or if
they are too large.

Your message was rejected by lists.mozilla.org for the following reason:

**** 5.7.0 Reject, id=32628 - VIRUS: Worm.Mydoom.M

The following recipients did not receive this message:

**** <[email protected]>

Please reply to <[email protected]>
if you feel this message to be in error.

My Overview of the Problem.

1. It is my suspicion that someone is unlawfully using my bigpond account to sent messages.

2. I have also noticed that my web connection speed seems to be slow on occasions of late.

3. I have also noticed that the free usage meter is also much larger that previous, but my paying usage has not changed.

4. I use MS XP SP3 Operating system which is automatically updated.

5. I use AVG antivirus free which is automatically updated.

6. I used to use Zone Alarm firewall, but recently it seems to have conflicted with the OS, so I disabled it and now only rely on the MS XP firewall.

7. I have two hardrives and use the D: harddrive as a backup. I have noticed that the D: drive has the normal backup files, but also has hundreds of files with similar names to the ones below.
CA0B.IDX - SAC5.IDX Etc.

I have reported this to me providor and they have recommended that I change my password, which I have, but apart from that they did not appear to be of any great assistance. An added problem was that my providor, Bigpond uses Indian call centres and it is very hard to understand many of them.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi bacdj,

I'm not a pc expert but I have seen a lot of delivery messages appear like these that I believe to be associated with spam / virus software, I think they are intended to get a response, I just delete them.

I'm sure you will get some better advice in time from the forum.
