underclocking

i did take out the power cord and left the battery out for a couple of hours but the video,usb,ps2,sound don't go to the monitor still. everything in the computer powers up. the hdd spins, the fans spin and the processor gets hot.

sounds like the bios isnt resetting

everytime i tried to OC and went to far one way or the other the same thing happend to me

I think you arent setting the rigth jumper on the board

do you have the manual?

no i don't have the manual. i have reset the bios before after overclocking but know that i underclocked it wont start working again after reseting.

i dont know how old the motherboard and processor is. i got them from a friend a couple weeks ago. its amd and originaly the prosesor was set at 1.05
GHz and then i overclocked it to 1.4 GHz and it worked fine exept for it was to hot. i underclocked it to 500 MHz and now it does not work

After taking the battey out that long and being unplug the bios has to have been reset, leads me to belive that theres a hardware problem somewhere, mabe try another video card or monitor

the video card is brand new and the monitor works on other computers. it is not just the video card that does not work. all usb, serial, ps2 and parallel dont work on the mobo. it happened right after i underclocked it

Has it ever made any beep sounds when booting, 1 beep on boot up means good to go. if not is the case speaker pluged into the board

ANYONE else think 40% OC followed by 50% underclock is capable of frying something?

No, not unlesss it fried when overclocked and didnt know till trying to boot underclocked

as far as i know you have to have some documentations to tell you witch jumpers to move on the motherboard so you can adjust speeds....but if you can do it in bios why bother////not sure if there are still jumpers with the ability to adjust bios.

how far is it getting and what EXACTLY is it saying. Even without a vid card the BIOS should still post and start RAM check. If it's not making it this far then something in the CMOS is screwed up or your memory is.

Try pulling the CMOS battery, unpluging the PS and pressing the power button. This will fully discharge the system and zap the bios. I had a ram issue a while back that corrupted the CMOS and nothing worked until I did this. Even the reseting it via removing the battery did nothing.

i did notice that the speaker was not pluged into the motherboard so i pluged it in and now when i turn it on it is an nonstop beep. it beaps for a second than pauses for a second the beeps for a second. what does this meen?

also it worked fine after i overclocked it.

i took all my ram sticks out but one which i had done once before but this time i let the one in on the other side and it tuned on. the screen worked but my keyboard will not. it tells me i need to start my ram in dimm 4 and if i have more go twords dimm 1 but if i put ram in dimm 2 or 4 it goes back to the same problem i had.

it is reset to 1.05 GHz

i got it all working now. it was two of the ram sticks that did not work. now i am short 1 gig of ram but i still have 1 gig left. thats still a lot. i think the keyboard did not work because it wanted me to put the ram in the right slot.

im not sure how underclocking it destroyed two of the rams thought

You might have two different speeds of ram and when you reset your bios it set to default, check your ram and see if its all the same speed!
