hey, i dont know whether this is in the right section, but is there a way to help to speed up your pc by stopping it running unessesary programs, i know you can stop some with task manager, but is there a way to stop some of them loading up with the pc?

BTW im using windows 98
 
that dosn;t work with 98, i dont think. there is a way you can do it though, you download the msconfig file or something, I'll edit this if i can find the link


Neverming 98 has it its 95 me and 2000 that dosn't.
 
cool, thanks for that guys, but how do i know what programs i can stop running, i dont really want to f*ck up my pc

EDIT: BTW it does work in Win 98se
 
just google the name of each of the processes or services that you are wanting to stop. You get hits to sites like "the process libary" which will let you know what that process does and whether it is essential
