Anyone have suggestions on why I can't connect with a friends laptop? I removed the norton trial and put on AVG free. It is connected to the network with a great signal but IE will not find the home page and I cannot browse with it. Another program for picture editing did do an update so it somehow is able to connect. I don't understand why IE can't though.

I did safe mode and nothing changed. This was correct option, right? Should I try safe mode with networking?

None. I found out that norton is backwards. you cannot uninstall it. you have to get a file to run to uninstall it. I did a restore back and have internet now and I just have to figure out which file to d/l and make it remove the program. I hate when they do things like this. There are many options for files to d/l too.......I don't know how I will ID the correct one. uhhhh......

I wonder how many other people tried to uninstall it.

Yes you can uninstall via add/remove programs. I don't know who told you that you can't but you can. However there are sometimes that something gets corrupted and it won't let you or there are issues with it not uninstalling everything. To get the removal tool go here. Just click on the correct program you had installed, download the tool and run it.

she does not have an account. I'm pretty sure of this. it said to open 360 and do some other things to get an ID number or something. I need to find a way to do this because i tried to open 360 and nothing happens and I have to download the budump.exe from my pc and put on a disc for her. it won't d/l this file on hers even though she can go to websites now. So I have these files but I do not have a "product ID" for her. It says I will need that later.

Big mistake going from NORTON to AVG first of all OK.....

Wow. Really? Are you a Norton lover?

You need to be sure to use the Norton Removal Tool. that will get rid of the entire product (Registry keys, shortcuts, etc.). I personally don't like AVG, but I rather use Avast! It updates quicker and more silently than AVG does. Plus, Avast!'s overall protection is much better IMO.
