Hello. I am just starting university this year and am off to a terrible start. I purchased a Sony Vaio laptop PC roughly five months ago. Pentium 4, Wireless, 512 RAM, CD/DVD Player/Writer, Windows XP, 60GIG Hard drive, widescreen and much more. It was meant to be my laptop and new best friend, in addition to desktop computer at home, as the one prior to is completely trashed up. Slow, old, useless in other words.

Things have been doing excellently; it’s a lifesaver and is really helping me in school and in other ways. My Aunt asked if she could borrow it for a weekend, I let her, and for that I must suffer the consequences. She accidentally smashed the screen and now everything is completely screwed up. Didn’t buy a warranty, past the 90 day return policy. Yeah, I know, I’m a jackass.

I have done some research and it is obviously going to cost a lot of money to get this repaired. I am singly supporting myself and used up all of my extra money to get this laptop. I cannot afford to get this repaired immediately, and that is a problem. I need a laptop now, for school, right now. Something of which, I need for papers and much more. If I do not hand in papers, I will be kicked out of class, kicked out of uni, there it is; future ruined.

This brings me to my question. Does anyone have an extra/old laptop lying around the house they could send me? Perhaps this is an awful thing to ask, but I need it direly and it can’t hurt trying. Maybe I could use it temporarily and return it to you when I can afford my old one, or maybe I could buy it cheaply. I don’t know, any suggestions/help/laptops would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Chris.

Umm maybe get your aunt to pay for it? If she cant pay for it... then why did you let her borrow it? Anyway.. Do you live in the dorms? Or people next door? Ask them to borrow their computer..

yeah if she accidentally smashed it she should probably pay for it. i dont think anybody here is going to shell out any laptops considering we are all poor college/high school students.

and most universities have computer labs so you can probably just do your work there.

My aunt/uncle is poor as a door knob. They can't even support they're own family for Christs sake, kinda depressing. They said sorry, didn't even ask to help pay for it. They know they couldn't.

My University doesn't have loner laptops, they do have many computer labs, but doing my work there would be difficult and unpleasent. Thanks for suggestions though.

i have a laptop but i do most of my programming on my schools linux machines anyways. im at the computer lab until 5 in the morning sometimes. instead of asking for laptps please just utilize school property until you can get your screen fixed.
