Unknown Computer Problems

Hi,I have been having some trouble with my dell studio lately. It is a refirbished computer and i have had it for over four months. Just a few days ago, my computer has been freezing every time I go on my user. I havent looked up on any sites that could have viruses, at least i dont think. The last thing i remember doing is installing a World In Conflict Demo but it was from their homepage which i dont believe is virus free but i think that the chance of getting a virus from a trusted site like ubisoft's homepage is unlikely. Also, when i go to shut down i notice the shutdown just freezes. Luckily, my brothers user has been functioning properly so ive been able to post this from his user. One probability is a virus but i have webroot antivirus so i dont think I 100% have a virus. Ive done many scans so far and came up empty. Please post a responce if you have a suggestion or if you have a question.
Thank You.

huh. well heres the deal. if its a virus, it can do that i believe. what you can do is boot in safe mode. that way the virus cant start. but the internet cant either. if you have a flash drive or cd you can put SD Fix(a program that searchs for trojans) on it and put it on the computer. run it in safe mode and it will show TROJANS. unfortunately not virus's. but its worth a shot. If you have Xp then this problem is actually somewhat known, Google it! ha ya thats your best shot. good luck!

Yep I would boot into safe mode and run your virus scanner. Also, you can boot into "safe mode with networking" option to get onto the internet and find a free scanner that way as well.
