hello, about 3 years ago i got a computer from my friend, he said there was a problem with the internet on it and he had bought a new one. He doesnt know much about computers so thats all the info i got from him.
I have not bothered to fix it until now, and i can not find the problem.
I open Everest home edition and it says the motherboard is unknown. I have tryed to reinstall the drivers and reformat the computer and installing windows xp/vista and 7 in 32bit and 64bit but with no result.
The internet port on the motherboard is nowhere to be found on the computer settings, the led light is lit green at all times.
I have tested with 2 PCI network cards, with the first one when i conect the cable the green light comes on but then says the network cable is unplugged. with the 2nd the light only becomes orange..
I have also tryed with a wireless usb adapter and that works but then after 5-10mins it stops and says network limited.
I am not to good with computers, so i was guessing the unknown motherboard problem is the reason why my internet isnt working. Any ideas?
The mother board is a Jetway M26gta-dg with an AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 4200+ and 2gb ram.
Thanks Adam

Please download PC Wizard from my sig, install it and run it. Go to FILE, SAVE AS and CLICK OK, copy the text out of that file into this thread. ALso post exact PSU model and brand.

Thanks for all the help,
with Pc Wizard it says:
Mainboard : Unspecified NF-MCP68
Chipset : nVidia nForce 520
Processor : AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ @ 2200MHz
Physical Memory : 2048MB (1 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM )
Video Card : Radeon X1600 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM)
Hard Disk : SAMSUNG HD252KJ ATA Device (250GB)
DVD-Rom Drive : Toshiba-Samsung CDDVDW SH-S203P

Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RTL8139/810x Fast Ethernet Adapter

But when i click on the power supply monitoring, there is no spec for that, i opened my computer and it says Plexgear PS-400 400W on the PSU but cant get thats info through my computer.

with cpu-Z it shows this I think i have attached it..

Sorry, i forgot to say that the internet cable and stuff is fine since i have used it all on my other computer.
Also the time it taken for me to download the 2 programes and write this my wireless internet adapter has stopped working 3 times. So i have to unplug it and then plug it in again and it works normal for the next 5-10 mins, then disconects.
Thanks Adam

Ok, NF-MCP68 refers to the BIOS version, which is (unfortunately) used on several motherboards.

The motherboard is being tricky because (i believe) the chipset drivers haven't been properly installed, which is why the network may not be working.

To confirm, can you please open up the computer and with a torch if required (flashlight I believe in the USA), see what brand, model number you can see printed on the motherboard.

Also in the meantime, try and download and run this (select the one for Win 7 64 bit)

hi, on the motherboard it only says m26gta-dg which is why i had believed it was the Jetway m26gta-dg motherboard. I will try with the link when i get home. Thanks Adam

i guess i should only download the ones which are for windows 7 or shall i even do the xp and vista ones?
Is there a good guide to how to update the bios? never done that before..
Also when i download the drivers from the link, how do i find the chipset folder to put my new files into?
Thanks Adam

Hi Adam

Just download and install all of them. If it wont work, right click on the installation exe and select properties and ensure Run as Admin is checked. It will be fine either way.

In terms of the bios, i recommend doing that after you get the drivers working and on a seperate thread.
