unkown device?!

hi peeps,

Ive build my new pc the intel i7 2600 and its awesome, ive installoed windows and all the drivers and my software but in device manager theres one device which i havnt got a clue on, its called "pci simple communications controller", do any of you know what this is?

Do you have a modem in your computer? I'd guess that's what it is.
 
Right click on that device and click on properties, click on the details tab and give me the 4 digit vendor and device id numbers. They look like this.

If you run vista or W7 it will look different.

You should always install the chipset driver first before installing any other driver.
 
well i did through the device manager but i needed to install the software aswell

It's always better to run the setup for any piece of hardware. Sometimes there is extra stuff that needs to be installed to assure smooth hardware operation.
