ive heard that 7800gt's have the extra 4 pipelines and 1 vertex shader that prevents it from performing at 7800gtx speeds and efficiency.
just wondering if this was true, and if so are they currently unlockable by any tools (ex. rivatuner?)
also, where are pixel pipelines located? i heard u can unlock them with a graphite pencil and an EXTREMELY accurate hand ;). are they on the core, or on the card somewhere?

Its pretty much imposible because they are laser cut... although they still show up in rivatuner.

Maybe flashing the BIOS to a 7800GTX. I dont want to be the tester for that though.

Well my friends dad is some sort of electrical circuit engineer, and he said that he could re-connect the pipes together, but the cost to use the machine to do that would be thousands of dollars.

yea laser cut, however there should be some way around it?! i mean... graphite pencil? basically... laser cut = ruined pipelines? or what does that mean?

New hope by this website!!!!! if there’re trying it must be possible?

"There has been speculation by some gamers that CPU limits and the potential for unlocking/overclocking may imply that the 7800 GT has the potential to perform at the same level as the 7800 GTX. At the current point in time, efforts to enable the unlocking of the extra disabled quad and vertex shader have been unsuccessful."

its in bold ---->extra disabled quad and vertex

it means that the extra 4 pipelines are cut, so data cant pass between them. And they are so small, you couldnt reconnect them.

its a voltage mod giving it alot more performance

guys: post or p message your email and I’ll sent it to you

no one has found how to unlock it so voltage mod is the best choice at this stage.
@ blue true it depends how far you can unlock the 7800gt vs how much performance the voltage mod will do?
