unlocking cores

Alright I have a Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P and I am tried to unlock my Phenom 550 but with no such luck. I think the 4th core is unstable so can I only activate the third and leave the fourth deactivated??? Thanks jason

I have heard of people turning these into triple cores but they do not explain whether they have a special MB or Utility.

So are you saying you succesfully unlocked the cores but it was unstable? Or are you saying they just didn't unlock?

Did you choose the ''hybrid'' option in the ACC?

yes it unlocks to an x4 and it loads the first screen then it restarts so I am curious how to disable the one bad core and keep the other one

Have you tried bumping the voltage up. (As far as I know) there is no way of just unlocking a X2 to a X3. Its either all or none.

I am trying to boot it at 2.6ghz with vcore 1.4 and even 1.5 but made no difference so 1.4 1.45 is were I have been medling. I have bumped voltage on the ht and nb but made no difference. i have reduced the ht and nb speed as well with no effect.
The only thing that makes a differnce is reducing the clock speed and it only helped to a point.
