Update Drivers??

Built a new computer (thanks to this site's help) a year ago and have recently discovered that some of my drivers need updating.

Looked at programs like:
DriverCheck
DriverDoctor
DriverCure
etc.........

Would like to use one of these programs to get it all done at once, but I don't know which one is good or even if the programs in general are worth the money.

Running the free download of these programs tells me what is in need of update, but of course, you have to pay for the program to get it to fix what it found. (These programs tell me I need a bunch of updates.)

Suggestions on a good program??
Any other ways to update that are good??

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Do not use any driver update programs. You should always go to the manufacturers website to download the drivers. And unless you are having problems with your hardware there is no sense to update your drivers. Are you using the motherboard in your signature? Then go to gigabytes website to download the latest drivers. If you are running a dedicated video card then you will either need to go to www.nvidia.com or www.ati.com.

Exactly!This is completely true!

Samuel 1941...updating the drivers so often is not a good idea at all!!!Your OS will stop working sooner or later by installing bunch of unneeded updates.
INSTALL ONLY THOSE UPDATES WHICH YOU REALLY NEED!IF EVERYTHING WORKS OKAY,THERE IS NO NEED FOR UNNECCESSARY UPDATES!

Cheers!

woah

Wow, all the red; dude its 1 in the morning in some places, like where I am. Too bright....

I agree, if it runs good then leave the drivers alone. But if you do HAVE TO update them....make sure you follow the specific instructions from where you get the driver. They have to be installed correctly or else....yeah it can be bad.

I wouldn't say that, if you buy a new model video card and use the drivers that came on the CD, then you should update because generally newer drivers means better performance and stability with newer video cards.

Hehe I like colorful text.:D
Oh crap my eyes are burning...AAAAAAAAAA!!!:D:D:D

Maybe a new driver would help with that........

Thank you to all the people who replied with meaningful comments.

After a lot of research and solicited input, I've of the opinion that if new drivers are available, it would be beneficial to install them.

My original post was because my sound was a little blurred and just didn't sound right. It was functional, but sounded like it needed something.

My quest lead me to an updated driver for my sound program.
Downloaded and installed the new driver and it's like night and day...the sound is now high fidelity and such an improvement.

The sound driver up date makes me wonder how many other program/devices are just working on my computer and could be working better with a new driver??

Looks like up dating drivers is about a 50/50 split on do it, don't do it.
I vote for do it.........

Now, back to the original question...does anyone like a specific program to up date the drivers, or is the general consensus do them one at a time??

Troubles a brewin
