Update for DirectX

Whats new about it? Is it newer then the previous October 2006 release that was needed for BF2142?

It seems to be the October 10, 2006 update from what I can tell. I guess by your post that you must already have it.

No it's not the developers package.. If you used your coke-bottle glasses you would see that the Oct 10 release is an end user runtime.

DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

*please note for all those that can actually interpret the basic facts that this is not a downloadable network installation package, but a web installer*

Date Published: 10/10/2006

*please note the date published, for all those that can actually read a webpage and not rely on Google to translate it for you, that [-Omega-] certainly appears to be right, that this is the Oct 10 release.*

geez. Some people's kids.. (need to be spanked)

Ya, I already had it. I believe it was required to play BF2142 correctly, without crashes.

I dunno. I just checked my email tonight and there was an email there from MS pointing to the download so I updated my computer. I don't remember it saying anywhere what was involved in the update or why it was released.

You forgot to "Read" the brief description!

"Brief Description
October 2006
This download provides the DirectX end-user redistributable that developers can include with their product."

"RE(read) DISSS(this) TRIB BUUUT ABLE"! that developers can.... " Can what? You'll probably find that this is the DX9L now released.
