Update or not?

Hello guys,

I am in a slight dilemna. I have money for an update but not for a brand new PC. As you can see, my PC is getting out of date and does not really meet my requirements when it comes to games and such. Now my question for you guys.

1. Would you upgrade?
2. Would you rather wait and get a new one?
3. Would you upgrade the GFX?

Here's my current rig:

GFX: Asus Extreme NX6600 TOP 128MB @ 580/600 (3DM06/05/03- 1605/4095/9740, AQM03 - 62340)
RAM: 2GB Kingmax PC3500 DDR 2.5,4,4,7 @ 420Mhz DDR in dual channel
PSU: Chill Innovation CP-400P2 400W ATX 2.2 PSU (34A @ 12V)
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice) @ 2.53Ghz (280 Mhz core) 1.55V
MOU: Razer Diamondback Magma Edition Mouse
MOB: Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9 - nForce4 Ultra
HDD: 80 GB WD800JB 8mb 7200rpm
OPT: NEC 3520AW DVD+-RW DL

I would get a good video card for now and then just save money for a new MB, CPU and RAM thats what I am doing...that intel core duo is looking mighty tasty :D

I'm with cell4me. Update the GFX then wait for a cost-effective upgrade route. True, whenever you take the plunge for some new hardware, there's always something just round the corner that you wish you'd waited for, but at this point there's just too much good stuff over the horizon to splash out now. IMO. :)

Deffinetly the video card. You can go pretty high without making your CPU becoming a significant bottleneck. Depending on your budget, I would go with a card along the lines of a 7600GT - 7900GT.

If anything is holding you back its the video card. Buy a new one and see how that does. You could even use your current system with a new video card until it gets quite slow then update instead of just updating once you have money.
