Updates not downloading

I have Windows 8. I checked My Windows Updates even though I have them set for automatic. No updates available. Went to Update History and the last update was on 8/21/2013. Could this be right? I would think there should be more, not even optional updates showing.

Have you clicked on check for updates ?

Updates only come out about once a month or so. It just all depends.

My last update was 8/13/2013 and it is all up to date.
