Updates so slow?

For some reason installing updates seems to take so long even if it is just a 3.5 MB security update, why is this and is there any way to speed it up?

Well it shouldn't take terribly long but it is only a 5400RPM drive. If you want better performance you could always get an SSD.

When you install updates, by default your computer creates a system restore point, so even if the update is only 1MB the system update takes some time.

When the sky rains money my friend, when the sky rains money. Even for the less-than-good hard drive though it seems to take a terribly unreasonable time. I'm talking about minutes to tens of minutes for a security update and hours now for this 757 (total) MB update.

When you install updates, by default your computer creates a system restore point, so even if the update is only 1MB the system update takes some time.

I understand about the system restore, but the "creating system restore" passes almost instantly, would that still be an issue?
