Updating files in two different locations

Dear All. First of all I would like to thank you for this wonderful forum. I have a question and I'm not sure if I can find the answer here. My question is the following.

Say that I have a file that I have on my HD and would like to save a copy of the same file on another computer on the same network. That file keeps changing. Is there a way to link both files so if I work on one it updates the other copy.
I hope that you understand what I mean

If you are using windows download Synctoy 2.1 (free) If you use the synchronise function it will do what you want. You can choose to synchronise at any time or you can set it to do the business a set time(s) each day.
 
i will have to look but think he wants to sync not only according to name but if the size has changed because something else was added. Would be a nice feature though. i don't think sync in windows 7 pro does it. its only if a new file name or file was added. i would like to have it.
