Updating IOS from device

Hey, seeing as the new IOS6 is coming out on the 19th, I was wondering if anyone knows for sure that you can update from 5 to 6 purely from the device AND still keep all your data?

Reason is because I won't be at my computer for the next few weeks to do this (holiday, so won't be in the country) however I am eager to get my hands on the new software before then so I was just wondering if it's possible with Wifi, a charger and nothing else.

Thanks

I believe Apple recently made it so that you can update through your iOS device. I remember reading it somewhere, so I'll see if I can find the source.

EDIT: "Future iOS updates can be downloaded over-the-air" -- MacRumors

Thanks for the response.

Yeah I remember seeing something about being able to do it, but I'm just a little worried that it may not hold onto all my data currently on my iPhone as I'm not sure if it wipes the memory before updating etc.

Any knowledge on that matter?

It won't wipe your data. It'll keep all of your apps, photos, music, contacts, settings etc.

If you go to the settings app, then scroll down to general under about you will see software update from there it will check if your up to date on your iOS if not it will download the update for you. Hope this helped.
