Updating Memory Issue..

I currently have a Dell GX270 as our home computer it had only 512 mb of DDR pc2700 i bought 4GB of PC3200 2x2048mb sticks since my MB only has 2 slots. When it goes to start up it beeps 4 times. and wont do anything? Anyone have any ideas i checked online they say its max memory is 4GB and PC3200 should work..
 
wow... 512? that's a dinosaur!

could be something like mother board doesn't support the 3200... or it could be something simple like, the sticks aren't firmly inserted into the slots...?
 
Looks like that model only support 1gb. sticks. Depends if you have a board with 4 slots it supports 4gb. If it only has 2 slots it only supports 2gb.

^This. The GX270's only support a max of 2GB with 1GB in each slot.
 
Ya i kinda figured thats what but wanted to make sure thanks for the quick responses guys.. Hopefully someone will buy my ram on ebay haha
