updating question

I just recently bought a used gateway solo 5150 laptop from a site.
It came without a hard drive, caddy, and operating system.

I looked up which operating system it supports
and it said 98, and windows 2000

is there anyway I can upgrade it so it can support
windows XP or Linux or maybe Vista????

and How can I do that?

Most likely Vista will be out of the question. XP? Possibly depending on max ram it can have and what processor its running.

2000 is stable enough. since its a slower laptop anyway i don't think you will be happy with xp. its a good system but it will be slow to start. ive tried this before. 98 to xp. went to 2000 and ran well.
