Updating software

New Ver yes. Seldom a new release.
New ver usually means something big has changed or been added. Release usually associated with maybe a piece of hardware. You can always click the release or does. might not do nothing for ya.

im saying new ver is major. A new release is a minor.

In fact all my application softwares are out-of-date, but they still do their job.
The first thing I do when I install a software : turn OFF the automatic updating.
I need a good reason to update softwares, otherwise I don't do anything.

When a software, doesn't work properly anymore, I usually do an updating.

Some softwares get a new version, that doesn't work properly due to bugs in the new version.
In that case I keep the old version. That's why I keep every old and new installation-file on my computer.

The problem with softwares is, they become gradually bloatware over the years and get alot of new functions, that have nothing to do with the original purpose of that software. The more functions, the more bugs, the more space it needs.
