I'm tossing around the idea of upgrading my Asus G1 HD to an SSD. Been looking at OCZ, Corsair, etc. I've currently got Win XP Pro on it now, which is still OK but it's a tired OS. Been using Win 7 64-bit on my Asus P7 desktop and love the OS.
The laptop is a 15" Asus G1-AK024C, with 2GB memory, 250GB 7200 rpm HD and Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz CPU. Would it be worth it to switch to an SSD of around 120GB (~$150-180) and put Windows 7 or possibly 8 on it (~$139)? How much, if any, would my battery life improve? On a full charge it shows roughly an hour. It's a couple years old, so I'm sure there's a bit of aging.
Being this is a 32-bit machine, will this be a good investment or no? I don't want to waste a fresh license of Windows 7/8 if I can get a newer laptop for the same $$$ or better. Whaddya guys think?
