Hey guys,

You think this would be a good upgrade from my current Cpu,Ram and mobo?...in my system specs.

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz 9MB Cache Socket AM3 Retail Box Processor

MSI 870-C45 AMD 870 Socket AM3 GB LAN 8 Channel Audio ATX Motherboard

G-Skill 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600MHz/PC3-12800 Ripjaw Memory Kit CL7(7-8-7-24) 1.65V

I feel that ive really hit the full potential of what i can get out of my current cpu/ram and to be honest,im a bit bored of it now.

What sort of Overclock would i be looking at on the X6...i know you cant give specific figures, but just a general idea?

do you think 3.5 -3.8 Ghz is possible? i have no problem with the cooling,My Tuniq Tower 120 will handle it,If not il look into getting one of those Corsair H70 liquid cooling.

the cpu and ram are great, but i would strongly suggest getting a motherboard with 2 pci-e slots just because you are probably going to want to sli your 460 down the road.

seems like most people have been able to hit 4 ghz rather easily and on air (looking at the reviews on newegg at least).

Well i choose that MSI board is because ive never had problems with MSI boards,It looks nice and is very cheap compared to the others ive been looking at.

But yeah id probably still want to use my 8800GT as Physx.

oh shoot, never mind, amd chipsets don't support sli anyway (except after hacking of course). you could go with an nvidia chipset (but then you won't get usb 3.0 or sata 6gb/s which aren't very big deals).

Hehe, well im not sure yet......Do you know what Intel + AMD are comming out with next? and when?...ive not really been keeping up with the latest tech :D

woah, i didn't realize how high the price for that ram is compared to the us (newegg) it is like $40 usd more (around 24 pounds more).

can you guys get newegg in the uk? not familiar with what stores you guys usually use :P

as far as intel and amd, with a budget you probably wouldn't want to buy the newest and greatest from intel or amd. the i7 or hexcore amds will do just fine for a while.

AMD will be releasing Bulldozer next year (2011) probably 2nd quarter which will be based on 32nm tech and an all new architecture...

Intel has some plans next year aswell but I have not kept up with them...

I would save the money for next year...

Yeah rams expensive over here,Even DDR2 4gb pc6400 ram kit will set you back at least £75.
No newegg UK,We could really do with one though to give Ebuyer and Overclockers some more competition and price wars. :P

Agreed. Plus VAT (sales tax to you americans) is rising to 20%
Aria are ok, overclockers are good, scans good, ebuyer's prices fluctuate alot. dabs is ok, for GTS450s at least

Meh, 1055T won't be a huge upgrade over Q6600 :P
I would say go i5-760, but seeing as sandy bridge is coming soon... Oh well, go for it
