my board supports the phenom cpu-

do you think it would be a better idea selling my 6000+ and purchasing the phenom or selling complete set up and buying the lot (intel based)

been looking at the quad extreme qx9650 or qx6800 but its an expensive cpu then there are all the other parts etc!!

I would personally just get a Phenom..the rest of your computer looks pretty nice.

thanx man!!!:)

i was looking into the black edition phenom!

i am playing cod4 on my graphics card at the moment on high settings on a 19" widescreen monitor so im happy with my graphics for the time!

but there is always the option to upgrade that at a later date

my board will run phenom but not to its full potential so ill upgrade that aswell-

how much do you think ill get for the 6000+ and asus m2n-e sli?

I wouldnt bother upgading, you wont notice a difference in performance between the phenom and your current chip, and the dont overclock well either !!

Obviously it's up to you man. I would upgrade your gpu and call it good, saving money for when new stuff comes out. Or, if you don't need anything better to run what you play now, upgrade when you find you have to.

The whole point of that black edition processor being marketed was to overclock it. As far as the noticing difference goes, that's true...he probably wouldn't see much difference as long as he ONLY upgraded his processor AND he only played games on his system. Upgrading his gpu is a different story though.

I suggest not posting advice if you don't know.

I just built a Phenom 9850 System and after 3 days I sold it. You better off just waiting till they get the GHZ. up some and the wattage down..

lol-why?

but if i could get the black edition up to 2.8-3.0ghz that would be good right?

well put it this way, i would like something newish (quad) because i like to have change every now and again....

im weighing up the options-upgrade "cpu and board" or "whole new" (intel based)

i just get bored of things easy lol

Runs warm doesnt overclock near as well as a 219 buck Q6600 and in almost of 90% of the things I do it wasnt any faster than my 5600. Plus I build them to sell and decided to keep it but after thinking about it decided to sell. I,m in the same situation but I,m going to wait, later this year their suppost to release some that are a little higher in GHZ. and lower wattage. Think there suppost to be a 9850 95 watt comming out soon.

i think what is going to happen here is-im gonna just sell this as it is and start again!!

i like evrything about my computer but i want to try stay a little behind the technology not miles-the longer i keep this rig the less it is worth.

its intels fault its depreciating so rapidly-it is true amd just cant compete

Did you look at any benchmarks before saying that or did you just decide that all current amd chips suck?
that said waiting for the 95w version couldn't hurt...why not just upgrade cpu and mobo and go intel based if thats what you want

Well in Quads if you settle for the lower end AMDs you cant beat the price. But the 9750 and 9850 just cant compete at the price there selling them at. The Q6600 will beat either one and overclocks really well and is selling for the same price as the 9750. If the 9850 was 199 bucks I would say it was a good deal. But there 20 or 25 too high. AMD is suppost to release some lower wattage ones and drop to 45nm. later this year.

well there is a few things i would like to do different, better cooling and bigger case.....

if i went to change to intel i would like to change evrything lol

Where did he say they suck? He said there wouldn't be a noticeable difference, a truth until competent SMP code is developed; and that it wouldn't OC well. The black edition was only mentioned later, a fact he probably missed because unlike the earlier phenoms in which his statement would apply, blacks can get it up when OC'ing.

If it was me, I'd just upgrade the GPU like mentioned. I'm cheap and like to get the absolute most out of my builds/components. There's no doubt an Intel system would be superior, even more so if you plan on Oc'ing!

look into the Phenom 9100E it takes 30W less then the 9850 even when overclocked to the exact same speeds. it also seems to overclock just a LITTLE bit farther, which is great.
