Upgrade desktop pc to gaming pc

Hello, and thanks for reading. :)

I currently have this old brick lying around: Link and I want to swap some parts to be able to run Modern Warfare 2 and the upcoming Black ops.

Is this even possible? Or should i just get a new pc?

Exact specs are coming up, i'm currently cleaning it thoroughly.

I'd probably not bother with it and start fresh.

But that would depend on how much money I had to spend, how much money do you have to spend?

Video card - find a second hand APG card from ebay.
RAM - Again, find a second hand 2 x 1GB from ebay
PSU - get good quality new 400W - 500W

Don't spend too much on it, not really worth upgrade.

Thanks, but do you mean an AGP card?

And what video card/psu would be good?

And if i have those, will i be able to run Modern Warfare 2 and Cod Black ops?

Edit: On second thought, i think i'm going to get one from scratch, can someone pick the right parts for me please? I know some stuff about hardware and such, but choosing it, na-ah :p.

What i want to do is:
- Adobe After effects
- paint.net
- Fruity loops
- gaming (Modern Warfare and Black Ops)

your motherboard support AGP 8X. Morden video card is PCI-E x 16, AGP is last generation, and thus, not worth spending a lot.

Actually, I would recommend you re-build the PC. I have a quick search on web, I don't think your CPU can play new game.

Is there any online retailer in belgium?
Anyway, here is some of the hardware I recommend on your tight budget. It's about 300€ when I convert to Euro. You can try to find similar item in your country, I just give you some idea.

Athlon IIx 3 440

Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-US2H

Sapphire HD 5670 512MB

Corsair 400W CX PSU

Kingston 2GB (2x1GB) DDR3 1333MHz

this should run Modern Warfare 2, not sure about Black ops

Thanks for the advice, i think i'm going to use this one as a server and build one from scratch.

I have an old pc casing lying arround, is it suitable for new parts? the casing is 15 years old.
For a new pc, i'm willing to spend 600€

I would suggest a new case as newer cases are designed for better cooling of modern computers and also it would make it much easier.

Ok, thanks

Can i get anything good with the budget i have?

edit:
(i've put a pc together for a friend, never my own)
i saw this in an other thread:
i noticed some changes to the picks, but i don't know what to choose :s

also, it would be handy if the case is portable, i will be moving a lot since i'm going to college next year

Not sure which to do here. The motherboard seems to be built for nVidia. And I hear good things about the GTX 460. But then again, I hear AMD and ATI cards work better together, so this confuses me.

850w may seem like a lot, but who knows what I'll put into this thing in the future. Besides that, I tried to go down to 750 and found that it cost exactly the same price! ( hhttp://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6391007&CatId=2533 )
