Think these would be a good upgrade to my rig in sig?

I realy want better framerates in GTA IV...im lucky if i hit 35fps in some places :(....

Im just not sure if it will be a big enough upgrade?

And to power the monster

Arctic Power 700W PSU - With PCI-E, 4x SATA, 20+4, ATX12V, 8pin +12V Connectors - Retail Boxed

All the reviews ive read so far for this Psu is that its quiet...solid performer.

It all comes just comes to £191.....i have a crap load of things im selling which would pay for this upgrade easily.

whats your power supply right now? that card looks good though. there a 192 core one for like 118 but those arent nearly as good as the one you picked out.

+1

I also recently upgraded from an 8800GT to a gtx260 and I did not need to replace my power supply (i have an antec EW 500W).

On a side note...never heard of "Arctic Power", reviews imo dont mean much, as ive seen $20 off brand psu's on newegg with 5 stars and people running dell systems off them(which dont put enough load to stress almost any psu lol)

Well I've heard the Core 216 models can be overclocked enough to match stock GTX 280 performance, and I figure that should be enough to run any game.

The Psu i have right now is a Gigabyte Superb 460W....i think anything higher than a 8800gt/gts and my psu would struggle but who knows?

Excellent...i was hoping someone who has gone from a 8800gt to a 260GTX would reply!

Did you notice much improvement? what Psu are you running?
many thanks :)

your psu has two 12volt rails which produce "1x14amps and 1x15amps rails"

find the amps needed for the gpu and compair, you dont want it to close to the full load as you have the rest of you systems needs too

Eh,okay now im no good with this amps thing :D...is that a bad rails i have or not?
Ive never had a system problem.

Well im not sure what amps it needs,Il look around but i hear it needs a 550W psu min.

the amps on your psu are low, but not cheapo chinese low...

if you can find out the info for the gpu you might be ok, i would have a look for you but im off out!

sure someone in here will know the amps needed for the gpu you are inquiring about

So i will need a new psu then right?

Just reading on the psu reviews
I'm running this with an intel Q6600, Geforce 9800GX2, 4 hard drives, optical drive, 4gb ram, Asus P5WS64 Mobo and It's rock solid.

I am using this to run a pair of 8800GT in SLi configuration and it's canny good.

I can't fault it.

Im just not sure if the 896mb of memory on the 260 will be sufficient for higher graphics on GTA IV :(

It loves to eat memory. Maybe think about a higher memory card like an HD4890? Although at 1680x1050 i can run GTA IV with decent settings and only 512mb frame buffer.

It indeed does like its memory :D

HD4890...Nah its too much at nearly £200,then i have to buy a new Psu.

If it hasn't been said already, you could upgrade your PSU.

uh....il have to anywayz :D
