I have a dual drive setup, on 2 seperate harddrives. Windows 7 Home Premium and XP professional.

I decided to upgrade xp to vista ultimate and after upgrading I'm having a number of issues; cant find network to connect to, some programs wont run, but most importantly, windows 7 has dissapeared from the dual boot option???

Anyone know how I can get windows 7 system showing up again???

For the record, I do have both harddrives backed up in case I need to revert back.

Thanks,

Adam

Was there a specific reason you wanted to go to vista instead of xp? With win 7 on the other hd you're better off leaving it with xp in my opinion...you dont get anything with vista that you can't get with win 7 besides problems.

Does it go blank before or after windows desktop loads? If before, its most likely corrupt install.

Every so often XP has a blank desktop after it boots up and is fixed by restoring a couple weeks back. I thought I could upgrade to Vista, since I cannot upgrade straight to windows 7, and it would fix the problem. I was shocked by how many problems I had after the vista upgrade. Thankfully, I back up both harddrives regularly and restored back to XP and all is well. Windows 7 is showing again during dual boot adn works properly.

The desktop background comes up, but the start buttons and icons never show and their locations are not clickable. It worked fine for over a year and started having this problem a couple months ago.

Can you do ctrl-alt-del and open task manager? If so, find explorer.exe in the process tab and end process on it. Then go to applications tab, click on new task, type explorer.exe and see if it loads correctly.
