Upgrade Home Premium to Professional?

Well, as a student I can get it for $30, and I'd be selling my HP copy. Which begs the question, if I upgrade my HP to Professional, could I then install the HP upgrade on a different computer?

So you have a server at home that you need to connect your pc
to through a network domain?

Anyway, Microsoft Virtual PC is free anyway, so who needs
"XP mode"?

I understand the differences. I asked, which features you needed...

Actually, I go to a college which sometime requires me to join a domain. And actually, yes, I have a Windows Server 2008 Machine at my house. Just because I don't need some of the features doesn't mean I don't want them.

Why are you so reluctant to simply help rather than nag? Anyone other than Bobdaggit willing to answer any of the original questions?

I'm not nagging, I was just trying to understand if you needed the additional features or not. For most users, the upgrade is a waste of money.

No need to get snippy about it.

The answer to your question is yes, of course you can upgrade from Home Premium to Professional.

And yes, you could still use the HP upgrade on another computer.

Okay, sorry if I got a little defensive, I'm just trying to get the answer and I'm probably not as patient as I could be. I guess the real jist of my question is more like, are upgrade installs more reflective of OEM installs or Retails- will Microsoft make it more difficult than should be to use an upgrade on a second machine.
If you say I can, I'll take that as fact, thanks :)

No worries. :)

I don't have an answer for this question. :o

The Upgrade might act just like an OEM install, and register itself to the specific hardware it's installed on first.?

I would hope that you could upgrade or downgrade any pc you wanted, but like I said, I'm not sure.

I'm interested in doing the same thing. How do you plan to go about selling the HP copy? I'm getting a copy from Acer (which, of course, has yet to come, and I doubt it will be here any time soon), but I think I'd rather just take advantage of this offer as well, seeing as how I am a student too. I haven't seen anyone selling their manufacturer upgrades, but I haven't looked too hard either. Are there people willing to buy these out there?
