Upgrade my Geforce 9800 to ATI 5770

I just replaced my GeForce 9800 GT 512MB GDDR3 to ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5.

Is there a big difference between this two? Because I played the game Just Cause 2 in the both cards but they seems to be the same, I forgot to benchmark the GeForce but the ATI in maximum setting of Just Cause 2 has only a maximum of 18 FPS.

This is my first time replacing Video Card myself is there anything I have to do to the ATI video card or it's the maximum performance it can give.

I think the main benefit of the 5770 is the features. It does not bench that much faster than the GT250-9800. Like in this link when you go from 36 to 42 that is not huge, when you go to 59 on the same game with the 5850 that is huge. But the 5850 cost more also.

Make sure your old drivers are removed with a driver sweep and no phyx is on etc.

Really? I thought the 9800 GTX+ (GTS 250) was similar to the 4850. The 4830 is almost identical to the 9800 GT in most benchmarks.

I'd actually venture to say the original 8800gts(G92)/9800gtx is about equal with the 4850, snf the GTS 250/9800gtx+ with its higher clock speed performing above the 4850.

Comparing the 9800gt to the 5000 series, the 5670 is slightly faster than it, with the new features. the 5770 however is quite better than both of them, and for DX11 games it can handle up to 1680x1050, provided you have a good system.

for example my dualcore is a bottleneck for my 5770... even running overclocked.

I was not impressed going from an 8800gts 512mb to a 5770 at all. Playing COD WAW, at 1920x1080 resolution, with the gts with 760/1050 clocks always pegged at 125 FPS, and with 8x/8x AA/AF it's mostly at 125 but does dip down to 90-100 sometimes during heavy scenes. With the 5770, at 940/1300 clocks it's also pegged at 125 but when I added 4x/8x I was getting around 80-100 FPS average.

I wiped all Nvidia drivers, and even used driver sweeper. Didn't help. So I decided just to stick the gts back in for PhysX anyway.

And BTW, a 9800gt is equal for a 4830. A 9800gtx is equal to a 4850.

Hows that PhysX going? Thought about trying it with a 8800GT. Which Nvidia drivers did you use or did you use a patch on the new drivers.

I used 181.82 drivers, with updated PhysX drivers. You have to have 2 displays, and extend the display to the one on the Nvidia card. Thats how I did it anyway. Works real good.
