upgrade old computer - amd or intel?

was looking to buy a video card but i dont know which to get

heres my motherboard type

661FM-L
MS-6540
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Socket 478

im not sure but does it matter what i get? is it possible to get an amd gfx card? or do i have to get geforce

as for my power supply i have 300w

if possible what up to date cards should i get but work with my motherboard
That motherboard is AGP, not pci-express. You would honestly be better off saving some money to get a new mobo+cpu+vga at once, one that supports pci-express. But pretty much any AGP 4/8x card will work in your system, and the 3850 is the best agp card currently(and probably one of the last agp released cards)

Actually your post wasnt on my screen when i posted that, i had no idea you had even posted:P Was just giving a brief explanation that its older technology to the op:P(Hence the reason i quoted the op's post;))
