Upgrade Possible?

Hello all I am fixing my sisters PC and I was wondering if it this was possible.

She is a bargain brand PC user and is currently using a eMachines® T6528 http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=T6528 with vista loaded.
I got her some basic upgrades she is a FPS fan so I got her a Evga 7600GT 256mb PCI-e card and 4gbs of PC3200 ram and a 430wat PSU.

Was looking at this processor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103584

Now best of my knowledge and by double checking with emachine she has a socket 939 type motherboard.

Now recently her processor died for some unknown reason after switching out all her parts etc I found that its the only problem. I wanted to get her something better then the 2.2ghz Amd athlon 64 she is currently using have about 130 bucks or so to spend on it

Just looking for a upgrade for her so she can get at least another year or more out of her PC.

well we dont know the rest of the spec of the machine, but considering you put DDR 400 (pc3200) ram in it, no, that cpu wont work

I'd go with another single core, because I've found that the X2's are a little sluggish at gaming on a 939.

Try This. I think it should work.

I don't know why the guy above says an Opteron wouldn't work. It's the same socket.

Its because I accidentally linked to a Intel Duo core I was looking to get for my current rig blows my old duo out of the water and is great upgrade for my pc.

Thanks btw on the X2 I was not aware they had choppy game play...anyone else notice the same problem with the X2s?

Also to taylormsj I don't like to purchase PC parts that are used I found out the hard way on a few parts I tried that with which was a bit of a shame :)
