I want to upgrade my processor, but I was wondering if bigger processors require large power supplies or if they require something else.

First of all we need to know what kind of motherboard you have, and what you're budget is. What size PSU do you currently have?

On one old build here I went through 3 cpus and never even looked at the power supply. The different socket type cpus out in the last few years generally are not as power hungry and oc easier then the old AMD and Intel P4 models.

Swapping out a low end video card for a high end model as well as ocing and adding drives in would likely be the only need for a change there unless the present supply is already inadequate for the build. A look at the hardwares and supply you have now would provide a better idea if there's any need to see a larger supply.

as they add more cores it'll require more power though, quad core uses quite a bit more than dual core, and the heat output increases too, but they're still seperate cores so as long as your cooling is good enough and the heat doesnt build up too much then they can handle it just fine.

again like they said, you'll need to tell us your current specs, and the processor that you want to get.
