OK.
My desktop computer, *Specs In Sig*, might need an upgrade.

Halo 2 Vista, is laggy in a custom game, by myself.

I was thinking of buying...
An 8600GT and 2gb of ram.

Links.

8600GT-

RAM-

Does this stuff look compatible, fast, reliable, ext.

Would Halo 2 Vista even work with DX10?

Maybe, wait on the new graphic card, get better RAM, and get a good CPU cooler, and OC? Would I notice any difference?

Oh, and microcenter, cause I'll be stopping by there tomorrow and I thought I might as well upgrade ...

Thanks

Do you think you would realy get a performance gain from a 7900gs to a 8600gt? some of the reviews i read seems a little questioning

I am going to wait on the new graphics card.

Would I notice a performance upgrade if I added 2 512mb sticks to my current 1gb setup. Over clock my graphic card and my processor.

Would I notice no lag and stuff?

Thanks

You should do some research before buying new parts, but at least you post here before you actually do, lol.

First, that RAM is pretty expensive, why not buy from Newegg where you can get some high end DDR2-800 for under $80?

As for the video card, I dont know about you but I wouldnt want to downgrade my video card.

That would be a bad idea to mix and match RAM types and sizes. For one, you wouldnt run in dual-channel mode, and the timings on one of the RAM sticks may be higher, causing the rest to run higher as well. I would upgrade to a 2GB kit of DDR2-800, you can get it for under $80.

And if you overclock your processor and video card a good amount, it will improve performance, but wont be a drastic increase.

How much on an increase do you think, if it isn't that much, why do people do it?

Yeah, I could do, but a little difference, I don't know if it's worth it, all down to the individual though I supose.

It depends on the system. You can overclock a Radeon 9200 dramatically, but since it's such a low end card it would barely make a difference. But if you overclock a card like the 8800 series, then the difference is alot more noticable.

I'm sure he would notice the difference, but it's not something that would give him 40+ fps.
