Hi

I have a Compaq N610c and the previous hard drive had a SMART Error. I had been wanting to change the Hard drive anyway so i bought a brand new 100GB Toshiba Hard Drive.

I then fitted it in and and followed by installing Windows XP OS. On the screen asking about the partition, the list of where to put the partition only showed that i had 126 mb of space and that 125 mb was available for use!!!!

This cant be right!!!!! My Hard drive is 100GB. Is there a setting i need to change or have i done something wrong???

I am a very novice computer user, and i could really do with some help.

Cheers, Mo

If it helps, somebody mentioned something about inputting values which are located on the label on the Hard disk on the BIOS screen......

...?

Is it an IDE drive? (using the large ribbon cables like a CD drive) and do you have your jumpers correctly installed (the little things on the back of the drive, next to the place to put the cable). If it is your only drive, then it should be set to Master.

As Far As I Know, There Are No Cables, It Is A Brand New 2.5 Laptop Hard Drive Which Is Showing 126 Mb Of Unpartitioned Space, Thus Not Allowing Me To Install Windows. The Hard Drive Is 100gb.

The Hard Drive Had 44 Pins Which Has A Connector Fitting Onto The Pins Allowing It To Fit Into The Connectors On The Laptop.
