remember that ze2308wm back on black friday for $378??

was nothing special.. 256mb of pc2700 ram, sempron 2800+,

well I upgraded to 2gb(2x1gb of pc3200 PQI), NEC dvd burner, and 100GB hitachi 7200rpm 7k100 HD

WOW, world of a difference, this thing is comparable to my A64 3000+ machine. I ran a memory test and it actually runs at 400MHz now with the pc3200.. I wasn't sure if it was locked at pc2700 speeds by the motherboard or not but it didn't really matter, I mean the ram was actually cheaper for the 3200 anyway. I have $650 (including price of the notebook) into this notebook now and every penny was worth it. the 4200 rpm HD was the last thing I upgraded but it made almost as big of difference as the memory. restarting from hibernation only takes a few seconds now, the status bar at the bottom takes 2 seconds vs. 12 seconds like before. Just posted this for a FYI, I don't need help or anything.. I'm just stoked :D

nice...teh way things are goin black friday will prolly have some nice core duos on sale...prolly in the 300-400 range i hope...i bought one already because im an impatient bastard but still only paid $549 for the one in my sig at compUSA

I'm to the point of wondering if I should upgrade my lappy some, as it just doesn't want to die ;) A few weeks ago I about upgraded the processor and added more RAM(limited to 1G in this machine, unfortunetly... But yeah, I know a 7200RPM drive would make a world of difference! However, it also really hurts the battery life.
