Upgraded RAM (Burning Smell)

My friend tried upgrading his ram by putting 2 x 512mb sticks kingston pc3200 ram and he said he turned it on and it was a really bad smell of burning. He turned the pc off but now it wont turn on.

he has amd athlon 3200 64
80gb hd
fx5600 graphics
400 watt psu

Hmm

Kinda clear that something burned out. Perhaps the RAM stick was faulty or maybe some component on the motherboard burned out. It could have been the PSU as well. You will have to try what actually messed up.
